Historic Interest
Opened in 1882. Owned by Thomas Montgomery in 1893, possibly selling beer from nearby Grosvenor Brewery in the 1890s, later Chester Lion Brewery. Sold by Thomas Montgomery to Bents Brewery in 1902. Later a Yates's Castle Brewery pub, described in 1980 as a large 'gothic' type building selling Higsons Mild and Bitter. The black & white photo was taken in the 1980s when it was still a Higsons pub.
