An independent free house owned and run by a local family. It first opened in 1833, having been built for the builders of St Peters Church, which stands opposite. It now has an open-plan- L-shaped interior, with a single bar and three distinct seating areas. There is an open fire in winter, and a conservatory and garden for summer. Food is available daily, and they open early for breakfast at weekends.
