This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.
This pub and restaurant is part of the Gordon Ramsay chain and is situated in the former gatekeeper's cottage at the entrance to Limehouse Basin. The bar area has a rustic real with wooden floor and real fire. There is also a large conservatory affording fine views of the River Thames. Bar food is available in addition to the restaurant menu. Refurbished and rebranded late 2022.
Converted from a gate keepers house, the pub is situated on the entrance of gates to Limehouse Basin. The Basin itself was constructed by the Regent Canal Company in 1812, hence as a barge basin and in 1819 the company took powers to enlarge the dock to admit sea-going ships. It is not part of PLA but owned by the Britsh Waterways Bd who ceased to opperate it in 1969.
