A dining pub in a small village between Knaresborough and Boroughbridge, there is a small seating area by the entrance with sofas where casual drinkers are welcome, the counter here has two handpumps but two more are located in the restaurant area; a board at the back of the bar displays the current real ale selection (though no prices). The restaurant is divided into two areas with a more formal part at the rear, the front part is decorated with books and and a mixture of old pictures of the wider locality and some interesting old (pre-decimal) menus from the pub.
