This Pub is Permanently Closed

Situated in a picturesque village not far from Newbury, the Blackbird was built in the 1950s to replace a previous thatched pub that burned down, although the building has been an inn since the 17th century. The comfortable single bar is complemented by a dining area. The menu features home-cooked food with ingredients from local suppliers. There is a pleasant, enclosed garden at the side. The famous Watermill Theatre is close by. In September 2017 the pub was refurbished with some colourful touches. It is now mainly a family run restaurant with the focus on food featuring tempting dishes from new chef / proprietor Dom Robinson. On Sunday lunchtimes a choice of roasts is available with vegetarian and fish alternative main courses.

Awarded a star in the Michelin Guide 2019.
