Tastefully refurbished to provide a spacious, open plan pub while maintaining separate drinking areas. oub games are regularly played, and sport is popular on the large screens. Local car clubs use the Black Horse as a base, and the pub enthusiastically supports the local ladies football team. Handily placed between Durham and Weardale.

Handpulls removed March 2023, no real ale.
