Belle Vue, Gorton

Demolished 13/12/2007, the site was redeveloped as housing in mid-2013. Planning Application 081236/FO/2006/N2 | Erection of 18 no. x three storey semi-detached houses, associated parking and landscaping. Granted 27/9/2007.

History: Prior to being the Belle Vue, it was originally the Longsight, a Banks house built in 1985. An estate pub, built on a lavish scale, it had a roomy vault with pool, darts, and TV. A large lounge was sectioned into alcoves with some interesting maps, and prints of old Manchester. It sold cask Banks's Mild, and Bitter. It did well for many years, selling plenty of cask ale and food. When it was restyled as the Belle Vue, it seemed to lose its way totally for some reason; sadly demolished resulting in very limited choice in this part of Gorton.
