This Pub is Closed Long Term
Opened in December 2014, this former corner shop haberdashery and latterly a recording studio (which also claims to be on the site of a former brewery) is now a back-to-basics beer shop and pub with high table seating in the front window and some low tables and bench seating on the bar floor. Nationally sourced real ale, real cider and bottled beers are available along with keg beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks. Initially the real ales were sold under gravity dispense from jacket cooled casks on 2 level shelving behind the bar counter with cider from uncooled boxes on the bar counter top. In summer 2017, partly helped by crowdfunding finance, the pub was extended enabling a same level temperature controlled cellar room to be created with cask and keg beers and ciders sold through wall taps just about in view behind the bar. Pub snacks such as pork pies and Scotch eggs usually available. In summer 2017 a standing room drinking area was also added towards the rear, leading to a newly commissioned small paved garden. Discount for all on takeaways of cask ales, ciders and bottles. A wall showcases murals or other commissions by local artists. Occasional street food events are held in the garden, usually on Friday and Saturday. Seating is at high tables and wall benches in the window space and low tables and wall benches/chairs further inside. January and February opening hours may vary. May close early if business is light. Since March 2020 has had a sister pub in Folkestone.
Card payment only here, cash not accepted.
Closed on Thursday 22nd December 2022 due to non-renewal of the premises lease.
