This Pub is Closed Long Term
Reported CLOSED, future uncertain. Previous description follows.
Small bar at east side of station concourse adjacent to platform 1 that has had a number of guises over the years. Substantially renovated in 2012, initially without real ale. In 2013 operator SSP saw the light and installed hand pulls, and generally there are now 4 ales on. There is, nonetheless, an emphasis on keg/craft beers and a wide range of bottled beers.
There's a limited food menu - pork pies, chicken wings, beef stew, curries and so on. With SSP's (free) BITE discount card (20% off across many of their food and drink operations at UK mainline railway stations), prices are a bit more competitive.
Nb the bar has no toilets, so customers need to use the station facilities. Children welcome until 9pm. A screen shows train departures and a bigger one normally shows rolling news on silent.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 4 regular beers.
