Reborn as the Barrelhouse in July 2021. A spacious pub with many separate areas on different levels, and even an open roof-top terrace. It is inspired by the Dive Bars of the American deep south, with an informal atmosphere but retaining many of the period features of this historic building. Food is handmade pizzas, and cocktails are a speciality.
Built 1910 for Georges Bristol Brewery, it was totally revamped internally in 1932. The 1930s interior of three small rooms remained almost intact until the rooms were extended in alterations of 1997 and some of the original fittings remained. In 2006 some of the panelling was removed following conversion to a Sports Bar. Some of the 1930s wall panelling remains along with one fireplace and a bit of internal glasswork.
