This venue follows the established Bar & Block format, essentially a spacious modern steakhouse incorporating a well-equipped bar with dedicated drinking tables and stools.
But intending drinkers and diners must eschew the very attractive canal side walk (Paddington Basin) with its restaurants, bars and fun bridges-- including a Brewdog pub -- and walk some 100 yards north of the canal across to the eastern end of North Wharf Road, and up the pedestrian alley bordered by Aparthotels and the parent Premier Inn hotel, nestling under the shadow of the Westway.
The premises are subterranean: access is gained via a lift or stairs from from the hotel entrance at street level. There is a three storey atrium over an island bar with an open-plan kitchen on one side of a large 150-cover bar/restaurant, giving the room a somewhat empty feel.
Guinness and a selection of keg beers are available (Prahva, Madri, Brewdog IPA, St Miguel, Peroni and Camden Hells), plus Aspall Cider. No cask ale.
Decor is modern, with pendant lighting and the familiar illuminated plants and bottle cupboards. Opening times here are the bar opening times. Breakfast is also served every day.
Paddington Basin and Merchant Square are at the centre of on-going developments with much to come.
