Former Youth Hostel Association building and now an independent hostel close to Derwent Reservoir, dating back to 1600 when it began life as an inn. The cycle sheds have been converted into a welcoming stone-floored micropub-style bar, offering two well-kept ales, invariably from local breweries and often produced especially for the pub. Opening hours may vary, especially out of season, so check before travelling.
