Vintage Inn.

Formerly the Fox and Hounds, this was completely refurbished in 2011 and reopened in January 2012 with its new name. This is now effectively a restaurant with a bar area, but eating is not compulsory. Seating is comfortable with plenty of room, and disabled visitors are well-catered for with an access ramp and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The pub is conveniently served by the 246 bus route from Bromley to Westerham - it has its own stop - but visitors should note that the service only runs hourly on Sundays and after 6pm on other days.

Historic Interest

Originally called the Fox and Hounds, this took its name from the "Old Surrey Foxhounds" that used to meet here. Built in the early 1850s, this served travellers on the main road from Bromley to Westerham. Owned by the Oak Brewery in nearby Green Street Green, this sold their Fox & Sons Ales. In 1909, the premises had to be sold at auction due to financial problems with the Oak Brewery. Current pub name derives from an old spelling of "apple tree field" and is built on land that once formed part of the Manor of Aperfield (which also gave its name to a nearby part of Biggin Hill). When the Manor was sold in 1895 as plots, the housing development of what is now Biggin Hill slowly started.
