Angel, Newtown

**Permanently closed in April 2017 and to be converted into a Costa Coffee!!** Typical for the town public house in 3 story early Georgian building, once it was known as the Angel Hotel and had its own brewery (Morgans) which brewed behind linked to a now closed sister pub the Angel Vaults in Market St. Recently reopened after a spell boarded up the exterior and interior have been given a smart makeover. Previous owners had tried to turn it into more of bar/night spot as the stainless steel central bar with stainless steel floor indicates the current landlord seems to want to continue in that vain. The bar occupies the centre of the pub with a number of separate areas including a slightly raised area for live acts or disco equipment. Very low ceilings. Became a free house in early 2015 after years of neglect under pubco ownership. The return of real ale will help the Angel to become an important part of Newtown's social scene once again.
