Large welcoming pub, situated just off the Esplanade, with a good ambience and friendly helpful staff. Popular with tourists and locals alike, with seating outside, and a garden at the rear. Three regular ales are usually on tap with a guest added in summer. Good-value home-cooked food is served. Especially busy in Sidmouth Folk Week when the garden and car park are given over to events. Dogs are welcome outside but not inside.
