This Pub is Permanently Closed
A former Victorian corner house called the Alma which was much altered by the time it became the Colony some time before the mid-1980s. The ground floor frontage has been cut away and set back, leaving just the old brown Whitbread tiles on the support columns as a reminder of the past. Attractive verandah-style doors lead into a single bar decorated in a “Tropical/Raj” theme. Framed prints of pre-war India decorate the walls while unused punkahs (fans) sit above the bar. However, it is doubtful if the several garish neon signs were features of Imperial bars! The one reading Todeloo” leads to the toilets!
Closed in 1990 to be replaced by a succession of restaurants.
