Historic Interest
The Ale House Register of 1561 recorded five ale houses in Burton village. By 1615 there was a total of eight pubs. There is one report of a pub named the Coach & Horses in Burton around this time but no further information. By 1861 all the pubs had all closed. Their locations are not known and a significant number of older buildings in the village were demolished in the early 1800s. The closed pubs listed on WhatPub in Burton might be possible sites of the older pubs and these were converted to residential use.
