Part of a 300-year-old listed building in the village centre, this traditional inn has a recently extended wood-lined bar area, stripped wooden floors, low ceilings and a real fire.
Advance booking for accommodation in summer months is essential as the area is very popular with walkers and cyclists particularly. The venue is on the Aberdeenshire traditional music circuit with live music nights held every Tuesday, often featuring local celebrity fiddler Paul Anderson.
Craigievar Castle, the Grampian Transport Museum at Alford and the Queen's View beauty spot are close by as are Stone Circles, which attract a lot of tourist interest. The Tarland Trails circuits are very popular with mountain bikers.
Closed winter Mondays and midweek lunchtimes.
