This is an other drinking establishment and you may be charged for entrance at certain times.

Annual CAMRA Beer Festival.

2025 EVENT; EXPECTED TO BE OPEN 17TH - 29TH MARCH.

The entrance leads into the Main Hall which features a high arched ceiling with exposed roof trusses, a stage at one end, a balcony at the other, and a number of arched alcoves along each side from which beer is served. There is also a Wurlitzer organ, one of only 23 recorded in England, the lunchtime playing of which is a popular attraction. A corridor at the side of the stage leads to the Lingen Room, where more beer, together with cider, perry, fruit wines, gins, and soft drinks, is available, and to the Dove Room, where various stalls can be found. A dining room, where meals and snacks are sold, is off the Main Hall.

Regarded by the Daily Telegraph as one of the Top 10 UK beer festivals.!

Historic Interest

The Victorian part of Burton Town Hall, used for the Beer Festival, was originally the St. Paul’s Institute and Liberal Club, which were built for Lord Burton (Michael Arthur Bass) and officially opened in 1882. Following the demolition of the existing town hall (sited elsewhere in the town) these were offered by Lord Burton to the then Burton Municipal Borough Council as a town hall in 1891. Some Civic Offices, in broadly the same style, were added in the 1930s. Local CAMRA beer festivals have been held here since 1980.
