The club was founded in 1922 and is generally open daily from 9 to 5pm (winter hours).

The clubhouse also welcomes non-members and is open most lunchtimes and serves main meals, snacks and high tea. Facilities include the Carmuirs lounge bar and Antonine restaurant, where parties and larger events can be catered for. Live music or DJ can be provided and buffets too, especially for funerals, weddings etc. Bar opening hours are extended for events. No real ale.
