This Pub is Permanently Closed

Girsey Nicol's pub still stands at the corner with Church Wynd. It seems to have started out circa 1905 as the Criterion Bar and stayed with that name for most of its time. BY 1995 a new name was selected via a competition and it became Girsey Nicol after a former landlady who used to serve the sailors of the whaling fleets in a Grangepans pub in days gone by. It closed down in 2008 and by 2010 was converted into a private housing.
