Historic Interest
The Beer House or the Ferry House Inn originally stood on this site dating back to at least 1609. Listed in Pigot's Directory of 1828-29 as the Flint & Bagilt Ferry House. In the mid mid 1840s it changed name to Pengwern Arms but then rebuilt and listed as the Boat House in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850. The pub was badly damaged by a storm in 1881, demolished 4 years later and the site was unoccupied for 40 years until the present building was opened in 1926 as a cafe.
