This Restaurant is Permanently Closed

This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.

Now closed, having reopened 2 February 2009, the Clarendon had undergone a major refurbishment - and not just the loss of its "Arms". Refurbishment is actually a bit of an understatement as it seems to have been almost totally rebuilt. The pub looks a bit like a private house when you approach it from the junction of Fir Tree Hill with Rousebarn Lane. After trying the front door you'll find the entrance is at the side, and inside you will find decor of a very contemporary kind, with a distinct British theme; very different indeed from its original style. There is a small bar room, where modern paintings of British style icons adorn the walls, but much of the ground floor has tables set for diners. Food is very much to the fore here, as can be seen from the website, but drinkers are accommodated. More of a restaurant with a bar than a pub. Walkers are also welcome.

The Clarendon closed for business on 14th October 2013, its website and notices on the windows simply announced "Closed - we are no longer trading as a restaurant".
