Micropub
A micropub spread over two rooms. Named after the male half of the couple running the micropub. Pictures of Wig as a young aspiring musician are on the wall. The village of High Spen had just lost its last pub when, in November 2016, this pub came to the rescue of thirsty drinkers. Opening hours are restricted. Still, it has become a true community pub with local groups using the comfy lounge bar for meetings. Ales are sourced from the North East as far as North Yorkshire. A very local ale from the neighbouring TOPS nano-brewery is usually available. As seems to be the rule good relations exist with recently opened micropubs in neighbouring villages who came to seek advice from this successful venue. A true community pub. Family-friendly. Dogs are welcome, too.
Real cider in boxes is available (usually five) To visit from Newcastle or Gateshead check local bus timetables carefully as bus links can be sparse especially on Sundays. No food.
This Pub serves 4 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
