This externally tiled 1799 free house, next to a former house of correction, has featured in every issue of the Guide since 1983. It recently celebrated 40 years under the same ownership. The comfortable pub has a U-shaped lounge with the bar on one side and a serving hatch on the other. An ideal stopping-off point for those completing the Coast-to-Coast cycle route.
