Friendly comfortable pub on main street of Ryhope whose landlord is keen about real ale. . There are 3 handpulls with Double Maxim the house ale and two changing guests. Most of the seating is to the right and round the back of the bar. There is a pool table to the left as you walk in. There are three sports TV screens and outside at the back is a small enclosed garden patio area. Live music features (check facebook), with dominoes on Sunday. Ask about their cask ale loyalty card; buy 8 and get the 9th one free.

Parking outside can be difficult but there are plenty of buses to and from Sunderland.
