Large half-timbered pub serving three ales and meals extending into many areas. Timber-framed and originally several cottages, parts of the building have stood here since C14 but it has only been used as a public house for around 200 years. There are two bars, one at the front and one at the rear of the building which serves the dining areas. A large, well-kept garden extends to the Cathedral Close wall with a fire pit used on weekend evenings. At one time it housed those working on the cathedral. There is a glass viewing area in the main bar showing the foundations of the building. Renowned for being the first pub in Salisbury to go non-smoking in around 1990. Small step down into the pub and bar, three internal steps to the WCs (not adapted).
