This large pub is split over multiple levels with wood beams throughout. It is mainly food based, yet has a good beer selection, with an extensive menu offering traditional pub food and more interesting options, plus a specials board. There is limited seating outside on the patio at the entrance. The pub was opened in the 18th century to serve local iron smelters who produced parts used in ship building on the nearby River Hamble and was converted from three 16th century cottages. The barn was added to the rear of the pub in 1967, having been moved from Easton on the Downs above Winchester. Within 1.2km (¾ mile) of Bursledon station if you know the footpaths, otherwise add about 200m.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 3 regular beers.
