Located at the centre of this rural village, in the north-western outskirts of Stockton, and where a strong community spirit continues to prevail. The Smiths is a typical late-Victorian pub, recently refurbished, and which manages to satisfy both drinkers and diners alike.

With a new licensee since December 2017, there is now a renewed emphasis on cask ale, where two changing cask ales are normally served.

The pub remains one of the few in the area to have retained a separate public bar, whilst the restaurant, converted from the original blacksmith's workshop, offers good value quality food, including specials at lunchtime.

There are real fires throughout. It has large beer garden at rear.

Quiz nights and varied entertainment nights also feature.
