This Pub is Temporarily Closed
The pub has been known for food for many years and a large restaurant area dominates the interior. The name derives from a local legend about a hermit who lived in nearby woods when the pub was built early in the 16th century.
The pub closed suddenly on January 15th 2020. In August 2023 it was announced that new landlords have been recruited and the pub will reopen, though no date is known. Indications are that a lot of work is needed, so this may take some time.
