This is a restaurant, where drinking alcohol, including draught and bottled beer, is only allowed when food is being consumed.
A large roadside restaurant. Large car park.
It was rebuilt as a large open plan bar and restaurant in the 1980s after a fire destroyed the original building.
The old Shepherd and Dog was renamed Miller & Carter Steakhouse in March 2016, erasing over 165 years of pub history. The restaurant still retains a small bar and drinking area where it isn't necessary to eat.
Historic Interest
Location may also be listed historically at Halfway house. The 1904 Woodbridge licensing records show that the Shepherd & dog's license was issued in 1855. Whether this was when it was first licensed or when it got a full (ie not just beer) license isn't clear, though the latter seems more probable. Rebuilt as a large open plan bar & restaurant in 1980s after fire destroyed the earlier building. Photographs of this pub and more historical information about it can be found at suffolk.camra.org.uk/pub/309.
This Restaurant serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
