This Pub is Permanently Closed
The Long Reach Tavern is known to have been trading by 1778. Its isolated position suggests that most of its trade must have derived from river traffic, although one of the images (thanks to www.dover-kent.com for sharing) provides evidence that in its later years it was popular with motorists from Dartford and no doubt elsewhere.
The images suggest that it was successively part of the tied estate of The Dartford Brewery Company and Maidstone brewers Style & Winch. Further takeovers probably meant that it ended its days as a Courage house.
After closure the pub somehow managed to catch fire, and was demolished shortly afterwards. It would no doubt have been a very popular destination in the 21st century.
