This Pub is Closed Long Term

A traditional local in a residential location close to football and rugby grounds on the edge of the city centre; but now surrounded by high-rise student flats. After refurbishment, a comfortable bar remains, the lounge contains a smaller drinking area and a cafe, all in modern style. There is a rear yard area.

Historic Interest

An Everard's pub from its beginnings. In 1892 William Everard died, at which time the business owned only 7 licensed houses. One of these was the Bakers Arms, 40 Friars Causeway, which although less than 20 years old, had to be demolished for the building of the Great Central Railway. Its licence was transferred to the Western Hotel.
