This open plan Wetherspoon's has a real community feel most days but particularly at weekends. Themed on Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven after a local, James William Carling, produced illustrations to the famous poem in the late 19th century. Born in 1857, he became a pavement artist when just five years old, he later went to America and is buried in Walton Cemetery. Aintree, the home of the world-famous Grand National is less than a mile away .
