Sadly this pub is likely to be closing down permanently and be sold for flats/housing approx. mid/late 2025, although it was still open in April 2025, with a good Friday afternoon trade.

The following planning application was submitted to Neath Port Talbot Council on Wed 03 Sep 2025 and was "Awaiting decision":- P2025/0632 | Demolition of existing public house, and construction of a residential development comprising 22 No. units with on-site parking, landscaping and sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and associated infrastructure works. | The Red Dragon Moorland Road Sandfields Neath Port Talbot SA12 6JZ.

Large and friendly back street local set in the middle of a large housing area, but not far from the sea front promenade. It has a slightly unusual layout in that there are two large public rooms, each with their own entrances, but with no internal access for customers between the two rooms! The public bar and games area is on the left, whilst the comfortable lounge and conservatory are on the right hand side. Both are served from one very long bar. There is plenty of outside seating at the front and a large car park.
