Historic Interest

Formerly a Home Ales pub, the Crown Inn was the scene of a number of Coroner's Inquests into fatalities at Cossall Colliery, including: William Robinson (aged 55) on the 30th August 1883 - accidental death by fall of roof; George Henry Statham (aged 17) on the 14th May 1885 - accidental death having been run over by tubs; William Green (aged 15) and William Horton (aged 14) on the 10th October 1888 - accidental deaths by a fall in a roadway [www.healeyhero.co.uk].As at November 2017, the freehold for the Crown (NT249666) was held by Trust Inns Limited [Reg. No. 3011034]. Nottinghamshire Historic Environment Record (HER) entry No. MNT27869.
