Historic Interest
A Victorian / Edwardian building originally built as an estate house associated with the Seely family's Sherwood Lodge and Cockcliffhill Farm. Located near the old Sherwood Lodge School, a 1902 building originally for the education of the children of estate workers and now a private residence. Sherwood Lodge is now Nottinghamshire Police HQ, having been officially opened by HRH Princess Alexandra in October of 1979. Acquired by Mansield Brewery in 1977, the first planning application currently available in Gedling Borough Council's plannng portal is a Notice of Planning Permission dated 11th May 1978 for "additions to existing public house to provide toilet and store buildings" [Ref. 7/1/78/408]. The application was made by Barrie Roberts (Newark) Limited on behalf of Mansfield.
