Historic Interest
Arnold Town Football Club's nickname, the Eagles, pays homage to the derivation of the town's name. Arnold comes from the Anglo-Saxon "Ernehale" meaning Eagle's Nook. Erne is the archaic and Old English term for the White Tailed Eagle, a fish eating bird of prey which presumably once hunted over the Trent Valley wetlands.
