Traditional village two-roomed pub opposite St Lawrence's Church. Pub games, such as darts and dominoes are played in the public bar, whilst the lounge also houses the dining area. Food is prepared in house. Nine hand pumps serve three ciders from Westons, as well as at least five real ales. In the summer, there is a bright and colourful garden area, winner of numerous local awards, to while away the hours. The pub holds beer festivals featuring Locales. It was a runner up in a National cellar competition in 2013. Refurbished in November 2016, the interior has a more contemporary feel with pastel shades on walls, ceilings and even the bar in the lounge. Part carpeted, part wooden flooring and comfortable seating.
Historic Interest
Possibly named for an episode in the "Wise Fools of Gotham" in which the villagers seek to protect the wood of a barn from the sun by dragging wagons onto it.
