This Pub is Closed Long Term

A family owned country pub, just a short drive from Newport or Cardiff, that offers an impressive range of classic and innovative dishes in a mouth watering menu. Much use is made of locally sourced traditional ingredients to bring out the best flavours in the food.

Update (Jan 2022), planning permission to partly demolish and convert the remainder into three cottages was refused by Newport City Council because no attempt was made to market the premises as a business. Since then the local community under the guise of Peterstone Wentlooge Community Benefit Society has started up a "Save the Six Bells Peterstone" campaign in an attempt to save the pub. The aim is to reopen it as a multi-use pub including a farm shop and a visitor information centre for the Gwent levels.

Historic Interest

Thought to be around 400 years old, the license for this pub was transferred from the Bull Inn when the latter closed.

Pub was closed in May 2018. In Jan 2022 planning permission to partly demolish and convert the remainder into three cottages was refused by Newport City Council because no attempt was made to market the premises as a business. A local community group Peterstone Wentlooge Community Benefit Society has started up a Save the Six Bells Peterstone campaign in an attempt to save the pub. The aim is to reopen it as a multi-use pub including a farm shop and a visitor information centre for the Gwent levels. The aim to complete the purchase by February 2025.
