Set in 22 acres of parkland including a lake, Rowfant House is a 15th,16th,18th & 19th century Grade 11- listed manor house, owned by the Latvian Church since 1962 and set up as a registered charity. Rowfant House offers a unique setting for enjoying a range of cask ales. There are two comfortable rooms with a bar and further rooms available for dining and social functions. The bars are open until midnight Monday to Saturday. Families are welcome. Previously owned by the Locker-Lampson family (1848 - 1962). The family (Oliver) had connections with the Czar of Russia and attempted to bring the family to the West. Possible, unconfirmed, connection with the murder of Rasputin. Oliver was a personal friend of Sir Winston Churchill and the MOD requisitioned the house during the Second World War. (see website). Jack Locker-Lampson was one of the founder members of the first CAMRA branch in Sussex and this later became the North Sussex Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale.
