APR 2018 - Closed - Planning app 18/00221/DPP to demolish and build a patient hotel (hospital). Not yet granted. Owner has plans to build Cockatoo II from the proceeds and says that the impact of road closures (Borders Railway) has had an unsustainable effect on the pubs viability on the current site.

WAS: Rambling, single storey pub with several areas. The bar has a wooden gantry fixed to the original stone wall and an interesting front made from wooden drawers and cupboard doors from an old dresser. It is overlooked by a raised area, with tables and chairs and church style banquettes, which leads in to a comfortable room with leather settees. Beyond the bar is a large dining area with a conservatory extension. The single real ale may be from Greene King or the Belhaven range which includes beers from smaller breweries.
