This Pub is Permanently Closed

Compulsorily purchased by Waverley Borough Council as part of the East Street/ Brightwells regeneration scheme. Remained open for several years until finally closing on 13th November 2016. The development is yet to take place, but the structure of the pub was demolished in April 2019 with only the façade of the pub remaining.

Historic Interest

A pub has been on this site since the 1750s. The small brick and timber inn was rebuilt in 1920 in "brewers' tudor" by architect John Howard and is now a rare survivor of this style. (source: Wikimapia)
