A privately owned free house run by the Sturt family for half a century was taken over by Youngs in September 2022. This has seen the range of real ales being limited to widely available brands and the number reduced to two or three.
This pub is set in the quiet Surrey countryside, near the local church. Originally a 17th Century coaching inn it was previously owned by the same family for over 100 years, but retains much of the original slate flooring and wooden beams. There are 2 bar areas, each with its own bar, and linked by a brick archway – both areas are also used for dining, but a separate dining room was added to the building a few years ago, and can also be booked for private functions. The pub has an extensive menu and one can also enjoy the large garden area in all weather, furnished with numerous tables, a large covered area, and a children’s play area.
