The pub claims to have origins as far back as 1190 and is reputed to be the 2nd oldest inn to be granted a licence. The oldest part of the existing building retains a thatched roof and probably dates from the early 17th century. With extensions and alterations over the centuries there are three distinct areas, a bar area, dining room and snug. The pub is small and crowded so access for wheelchairs or pushchairs may be difficult.

Historic Interest

The building dates from the first two decades of the 17th century but is much altered. Mrs Louisa Foster was a brewer until about 1902 when she was succeded by Lewis Foster, who is last referred to as a brewer at the Hollybush public house in 1910.
