Reopened on 1/12/25 after a period of closure.
The current building stands on the site of one of the oldest inns in the town. The original was destroyed in the civil war. During several successive renovations a well was found in the building in 1951, and human bones in a hidden room in 1982.
The one handpumped beer, Wainwright Gold is brewery conditioned Fresh Ale keg beer and is therefore not real ale as defined by CAMRA
