Reopened 14/12/23 after a protracted closure. Former Greenall Whitley pub near Shrewsbury market hall. Decorated in a tastefully modern style (wooden floor boards, polished tables, clear windows etc.). Toilets and a function room are to be found upstairs.
Has two handpumps, now both in use. On 2/3/24, the guest was Fuller's London Pride.
Historic Interest
The pub was rebuilt and set back from the corner in 1935 when road widening took place. At the time it was owned by Greenall Whitley, hence the Wilderspool plaque set in the external wall (Wilderspool was the name of Greenall's Warrington Brewery). When Greenall Whitley acquired the Wem Brewery in the 1950s the pub's beer was supplied from there until Greenalls closed it in 1988. In 1965 the Exchange became the first pub in the Shrewsbury area to serve beer through metered pumps.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 1 regular beer.
