This Pub is Closed Long Term
A long-established locals pub, featuring sports TV. Historic archway leads to car park and rear outdoor drinking area. Interestingly the adjoining houses on each side are number 229 and 251.
Suddenly closed and put up for sale mid 2025. Future uncertain.
Mainly opened-up. Only the front-right room (with post-war fittings) is complete. Some Thirties seating and (copper-topped) bar-counter survive in the main body of the pub and vestiges of the former front snug and off-sales are still evident. The chief glory, however – a possibly-unique set of Richard Whitaker’s brewery etched front windows – was tragically vandalised in early 2007.
