This picturesque pub is 300 yards from the Kennet & Avon canal. It reputably has the steepest thatched roof in Wiltshire. Inside there is a small public bar with an open fire, a snug and a lounge where home cooked food is served. All the four real ales are from Wadworth in nearby Devizes. In the summer there is often an additional Wadworth guest. The pub has its own camp site with toilet & shower block. There is a barn for private functions and events and a skittle alley on request. First Sunday of the month is quiz night. Look out for their Oktoberfest with Brass Band each October.

The Golden Swan was built around 1859 at the south-east corner of the green. It succeeded the White Swan, which lay with other buildings further south-west, and this in turn succeeded the Black Swan, or Swan, at the Hare Street crossroads.
