Historic Interest

Mentioned in the Ale House Register of 1561, the pub was rebuilt about 1880. A Spraggs Brewery pub taken over by Higsons in 1919. Sructural alterations made to the pub in 1923. Described in 1990 as a large pub close to Bidston Dock with a plain public bar and spacious lounge, with a beer garden and serving Boddingtons Mild and Bitter and Higsons Bitter by handpump. Closed in 2009 and demolished a year later.
